Templates for Homepages

accomodated from the Stanford CSD template.

* What is this

We have collected these blank pages as help for those of you who want to put up your own homepages. They are meant as guidelines or hints for those of you new at this, and as a starting point for those baffled by HTML.

We also have a nifty tutorial on HTML for budding Web-page designers that will teach the basics and give pointers to other places.

We also have a nice collection of images that you can put in your documents to spice them up.

o How to use a template

The way this works best is if you look at the templates with Mosaic or somesuch, and then find one you like and use the File Save As menu command to save a copy of the HTML in your local directory (remembering to set the format to HTML).

Then use EVE or your favourite editor to change the info contained in the template to match your info. Note that some templates refer to other templates, so you would need to download the others and fill those in too (primarily the resumé page).

BKFUG
Make sure that the files are stored in the [.WWW] directory under your SYS$LOGIN, and that the directory is world-readable. You can do this and build a sample home page by invoking the build_userdir-commandfile.
$ @WWW_ROOT:[000000]BUILD_USERDIR

You can also inspect this file using TYPE www_root:[000000]build_userdir.com or with an editor of your choise. So pick one of the files below that you like, save it to the WWW directory as index.html using the File, Save As... menu in Mosaic.

Then edit the file to fill in your own details using your favorite text editor.
